recreational classes


Creative movement

ages 3-5

This class explores movement activities rooted in ballet, tap and jazz. Creative Movement introduces the basics of class structure. Children must be potty trained. 


Fundamentals

ages 4-5

Geared for students who have had a little experience in Creative Movement or other structured movement activities. This class uses fun movement activities structured around the fundamentals of ballet, tap, and jazz dance. 


Beginning Combo Classes

all ages

These are recreational classes that are designed for children who are past the age of creative movement and fundamentals but don't have any (or only have a little) experience with dance. These classes offer an introduction into ballet, tap, and jazz techniques.


teen and Adult Classes

Limb Extensions

Recreational classes that are designed for older teens and adults to be able to experience the joy of dance in specific genres. For adult ballet, hip hop, or Yoga classes please see the Limb Extensions program. 


Leveled Classes


Beginning / advanced beginning

ages 6-8

Beginning / Advanced Beginning is for beginning dancers who have *likely* taken either Fundamentals or Beginning Combo classes and want to begin studying more dance. Level 1 students are encouraged to take 2 classes per week: a tap / jazz combination class and a separate ballet class. 


Intermediate 1

ages 7-10

Level 2 is for our advanced beginning dancers. Level 2 offers more options for ballet classes alongside a tap/jazz combination class. Level 2 students work to advance their skills and prepare them for the Performing Arts Ensemble that is available to students who are in levels 3 and up.


Intermediate 11

ages 9-12

Level 3 is for advanced beginning-intermediate students. Level 3 students should be taking 2 ballet classes per week along with separated classes in jazz and tap. Level 3 students are now eligible to register for our Performing Arts Ensemble (PAE) program, offering a full curriculum that includes more performing opportunities. Level 3 PAE students are expected to take all the classes that the level has to offer. 


Advanced Intermediate

ages 10-13

For intermediate level dancers with a few years of experience, level 4 students should be taking at least 3 ballet classes a week alongside their separate classes in contemporary/lyrical (when offered), tap, jazz and musical theater (when offered). Pointe work in ballet may be offered to those students who are taking a minimum of 3 ballet classes per week and who have had the necessary preparation in their training. Level 4 PAE students are expected to take all the classes that the level has to offer. 


Advanced

ages 10-14

Level 5 and 6 students are advanced-intermediate students with several years of dance training. Level 5 students are en pointe in ballet or getting ready to go en pointe. A minimum of 4 -5 hours of ballet per week are required for pointe students. Many other genres of dance are also offered (such as *contemporary, lyrical, improvisation, musical theater, tap and jazz). Level 5 PAE students are expected to take all the classes that the level has to offer. 


Apprentice

ages 13-18

Designed for our advanced students who are taking around 4-6 hours of ballet per week, are en pointe, and are considered advanced in all genres of movement. Our advanced students also have classes offered in tap, lyrical, *contemporary, improvisation, jazz, and musical theater. Level 6-7 PAE students are expected to take all the classes in their level. 


Stage Acrobatics

As a separate curriculum, we offer stage acrobatic classes to our students who demonstrate an interest in learning acrobatic and gymnastic skills. We currently offer two levels:


Bronze

This is a beginning – advanced beginning level. Working of basic skills such as forward and backward rolls, cartwheels, round-offs, etc., also soft work such as backbends, front and back walkovers, limbers, etc. We also introduce mini-trampoline skills as well as front and back handsprings and side aerials. 


Silver / Gold

Intermediate – Advanced. Students in this class usually can already do front and back walkovers, round-offs, and are working on more advanced skills such as aerial work.
